EDIT: Malformed link is now fixed.

Oh my god.

TNG Season 8 is the funniest goddamn twitter feed I have seen in forever. Plots from the "unaired" 8th season of Star trek Next Gen. It is decidedly an Inside play, but if you're in, it's un. fucking. believable.

I'm going to share some highlights from it, as the lens for a geek quiz, where they take... close inspiration from actual episodes.

"A team of elite space thieves deactivate the Enterprise's artificial gravity and steal the warp core. Barclay disintegrates his legs."

1. When confronting a team of "elite" space thieves, who sneak on board during maintenance being performed on the Enterprise, what civilian Identity does Picard Claim?

"Dr Pulaski is back to evaluate Dr Crusher's fitness to practice medicine. Meanwhile, Beverly swoons for a ghost trapped in a loaf of bread."

2. When Beverly actually DOES swoon for a ghost, in what mundane object is it residing?

"The Enterprise is flung into the Delta Quadrant by an alien called the Caretaker. Geordi soups up the warp core and they're home by dinner."

3. What ship actually dealt with this problem over the course of too many years?

"A holodeck failure traps Picard in 19th century London, investigating Jack the Ripper. Data & Geordi's newspaper is mostly comic strips."

4. The "A" plot outlined here combines two recurring holodeck fantasies that occasionally get thrown around. Name the characters whose shoes are filled by Picard and Data therein.

"Riker must battle the only thing in the galaxy he may not be able to defeat: A CLONE OF HIMSELF. Troi is torn."

5. Certain connotations here aren't quite accurate, but this one, well... this one basically happened in an episode called "Second Chances." What name did the "other" Will Riker start going by at the end of the episode?

"A planet of genderless aliens invent sexuality in honor of Riker. Worf sits on Geordi's visor in sick bay, begrudgingly gets him a new one."

6.... this one is just great. That's all.

On the whole 27 finished out pretty well. Some endings as well, but some very promising beginnings, and there there are those things that it's wonderful haven't changed.

Ok 28. Your turn.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful lady...
...and things didn't go so well for her.
She had to make sacrifices; that's just how the world works, you know?
Eventually, she had to sacrifice her heart.
Now she has one chance to get it back, to find her true love.
Once upon a time, there was a handsome lord...
...and things didn't go so well for him.
Maybe he never found his beautiful bride, or maybe he found her but couldn't bring himself to love her.
Maybe he was just a vicious bastard through and through.
Now there are ladies who want to dance with him, who want to love him, who want him to love them in return.
He wants to sneer.
But it's so cold inside his heart...
And a waltz plays, and the dance floor gleams with cruel promise...

Dear Friends of the LARPing Persuasion,

The Dance and the Dawn, a LARP by Warren Tusk, based on the RPG by Dev Purkayastha, which will run on June 25th at 5:30 p.m. in New York City, 165 Lenox Avenue.

We have a few spots left. Mostly for intended-to-be-male players, but there's definitely some flexibility in casting, so just let me know if you'd like to play regardless. I will be posting to Intercon_LJ later this week. I wanted to give my friends here a heads up first. Comment with contact information or email me at khyros AT khyros DOT com if you want a spot. Crash space is available but very limited, so please let me know if you are an out of towner who can make your own arrangements for a place to stay saturday night.

Anyway, I'll send a casting questionnaire after I receive your interest.

If you're not interested, feel free to stop reading.  If you're on the fence... or just don't know what Dance And the Dawn Is... read on...

The game takes place on the Isle of Ice, at the Queen of Ice's midnight ball. )

So while I have talked obliquely, or shared on Facebook occasional things about what I do, I haven't really spoken extensively about it or my company, so, I'd like to remedy that. For those of you who are in touch with me extremely routinely, feel free to skip down to the video and last 2 paragraphs.

The company at which I've recently become employed is called Grovo. Grovo is, as our website says, an online education and training platform that helps people find and use sites, and helps sites reach and educate users. In addition to the consumer side, we are also very focused on helping small businesses learn how to better take advantage of the tools the internet has to offer.

Our primary tool for education is short, entertaining video lessons, generally no more than 2 minutes in length, that teach you something about a site or important concept, and that is where my team and I come in. As the head of production, I make sure our videos are held to rigorous standards of quality.

To give you an idea of what our content is like, I would like to point you to our Youtube "Merry-Go-Round." We uploaded 10 of our videos to youtube with annotations at the end linking to 2 other videos apiece, as well as the main Grovo intro video. You can browse through lessons through the video links as much/as long as you like, and for more on Grovo, the intro video is available at the end of each lesson.

If you know someone who wants help personally or for their business in using the power of the internet, please consider letting them know about Grovo, and if you've enjoyed this, please consider facebook sharing or tweeting this or another of the videos in the merry-go-round. Any assistance here is much appreciated.

So yes, that's a bit more about how I spend my days... and some nights.

Hello everyone. been far too long, but recaps take forever and so I'm just going to try and pick up as if I never left.

I have a new job at a start up and we have office in jokes.

One of the guys here had his status message as "Night Moves" on the internal office chat. This references a song, but regardless of what it actually means, "Night Moves" is now slang for anything that we want to do at night. Sort of like Most activities.

Today, the status messages, straight down the line read:

Night Moves
Day Moves
Dusk Moves
Early Morning Moves
Moves like an 80 year old man.

Not anticipating that anyone else will find this in and of itself as laugh out loud funny as I do, but I do think that I have enough friends who love in-joke related culture building who will appreciate that this kind of thing happens.

I was actually relatively impressed with the performances and overall story in this week's Glee but I had some pretty serious issues with some of the plot at the end. .
